We're football crazy!

For the last four weeks the children have been full of enthusiasm for their football lessons.

All the children are doing a super job of getting dressed independently - zips, buttons and tights have all been conquered!  Getting dressed races, or trying to finish before the end of a favourite song is a great way to encourage independent dressing at home (our particular favourite at school is to race against the Star Wars theme tune).

The children have been learning and developing a number of skills including kicking, passing, dribbling and tackling.  Here are some shots of their skills in action:

Once upon a time ...

Bears watch out! Goldilocks is on the loose in Foundation stage this week as we look at one of our favourite traditional tales.  We have retold the story using masks in our own Three bears house, compared the characters by talking about similarities and differences and created our own props from junk modelling.

In numeracy we have been thinking about how we talk about the past, present and future in FS1 and in FS2 we have been getting to grips with the language of time - with lots of help from our much-loved class mascot Bob!  It would be great if you could practise using 'evening' at home, as this one caught us out a little bit!

The bears' house.

Who does this chair belong to?  Is it daddy bear's, mummy bear's or baby bear's?

Today (Friday 30th Jan) we wrote our own version of the story. We used labels, captions, and even some sentences with connectives, wow!!  Here is a sample of some our work:

Brrrrrrr back to school!

We have loved being back at school with all our friends and the chilly weather has had us thinking about places in the world where its even colder!! With the Arctic as our theme we have been playing in igloos, looking at globes, practicing our cutting skills by making snowflakes, counting snowballs and even painting and writing letters to Arctic inhabitants!

In maths last week we were thinking about capacity!

We told our friends and teachers which bottle was full, empty or half full.
Hmm where do these animals belong?
 Finding the Arctic!
Using positional language to explain how we build our buildings & towers.
