What a busy half term we have had! We have continued with our All About Me topic, learning about houses, the rooms we have in our houses and what we do in each room.

Here's what the children have to say:

"We've been learning how to make our house, we used glue to stick them together. We've been learning how to write our names."

"We have been learning about threading. Shapes. Circles, squares, triangles."

"I've made play dough for cupcakes. I squashed it with sprinkles."

"I've been playing at the maths table, playing with the elephants, line them all up in a circle."

How many were there? "21!"

Here is an example of our Maths learning:

In Butterflies:

"We have been weighing shoes. One's lighter and one's heavier"

In Caterpillars:

We count to see how many children are at school today: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. There are 7."

"They're having a go in the sand. They're having a turn making a 5."

Thank you for reading our blog!

Busy Busy Busy and exciting visitors!

A quick extra update from Butterflies..

We have had a busy week, following the 'Ourselves' topic with Caterpillars - making faces from different things and in different ways and talking about what we look like.
We have been exploring senses and how we use them and also this week thinking about how we have changed since we were babies.
We were lucky enough to have a visit from a baby and his mum and we came up with lots of great questions to ask.  The grown ups were very impressed with how calmly and quietly we sat for the baby.

On Tuesday we took part in our sponsored athletic event and got to meet a professional gymnast who wowed us in the hall with his back-flips and somersaults!!  Well done to all the Butterflies who were so enthusiastic!

We have been busily getting on with our maths too - learning how we compare things of different height and weight - including ourselves! In Busy Fingers we have used shapes to make pictures and been impressing the grown ups with our counting and number recognition.

As for writing we have been doing it everywhere!
