Celebrations

This half term we will be thinking about celebrations. We have been learning about Diwali this week. We read the story of Prince Rama and Princess Sita and how they found their way home through the forest with diva lights.

The children have made some diva lights of their own to bring home and share with you as well as some that will be on display in the Reception area outside the office. We enjoyed lighting them and singing our light song to the parents.

We made pictures of the story and retold it using masks.

We have also been thinking about shapes - making shapes, describing shapes, finding shapes and talking about shapes.

At home you could go on a shape treasure hunt in your house or outdoors. You could even take some photos to show us in school and for us to put up on our shape display. You could use describing words like curved, straight, sides, corners and edges to describe your shapes.

Next week we will be reading a book called Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy and thinking about fireworks.
