I'll huff and I''ll puff...

3 Little Pigs

This week we are using the book The Three Little Pigs as our main text and our learning has included thinking about the properties of materials, characters in the text, position and how to build a steady construction.
Using the props to retell the story, recalling repeated refrains and thinking about what each character would say.
Building towers with different kinds of block - how steady can you make it? How many blocks did you use? Can you make it taller than you?

We enjoyed playing a counting and number recognition number game with the blocks. First we rolled a number dice and took the matching number of blocks. Then we built our towers. Once our towers were quite tall, we threw a bean bag at our towers and counted how many bricks we could knock over.

We have been writing and reading about the characters in the story, learning that print goes from left to right and how to point at each word as we read.

In our phonics session, we worked in colour teams to see which team could add the most 'i's' to the large sheet of paper.

We have been looking at different materials and thinking about if they would be good for making a house. What do you think about these materials?

Which one would you choose for your house? Why?

Practising our cutting skills and learning how to hold the scissors.

Over the next two weeks we will be learning about the changes we can see in Spring and also about Easter.
